Czech Republic - Holy Trinity Column in Olomouc

Located in Olomouc, Moravia region, the Holy Trinity Column is a memorial column erected in honour of God, between 1716 and 1754, shortly after the plague which struck Moravia in 1714-1716. It was designed by Václav Render. The column is decorated in the characteristic regional style known as Olomouc Baroque style, with many fine religious sculptures. Some of these sculptures were built by the Moravian artist Ondrej Zahner. The column is 35 metres high and its base houses a chapel. UNESCO WHS in 2000
