Austria - City of Graz : Historic Centre and Schloss Eggenberg

Second largest city after Vienna, Graz is situated in the southeastern part of Austria. Graz was the capital of Inner Austria and the residence of the Habsburg dynasty until 1618, when Ferdinand II became Holy Roman Emperor and moved his court to Vienna. The old town consists of many buildings ranging in style from Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque up to Art Nouveau. In 1999, Graz was inscribed on the UNESCO list of World Cultural Heritage Sites. The site was extended in 2010 to include the baroque Eggenberg Castle and its landscaped gardens, located on the western side of Graz. UNESCO WHS in 1999, extension in 2010
